white out

So on Saturday it snowed in Florida. Not really snow per se, but some sort of non-wet rain that feel to the ground as a solid. It looked more like the crushed ice you get out at a local diner with your sweet tea that makes you wish everyone had that kind of crushed ice. Alas, I digress.
It did not, however, snow anywhere close to Sarasota. I still got a call to go make a frame that represented the cold and the hopes and dreams of editors that it had actually snowed here. Easy enough to find cold pictures, but I wanted to find something that really showed the difference of what this craptacular weather is doing to our tourism. I headed out to Siesta Public Beach, where on any other given day in winter (this is our season and is usually, much, much hotter right now) this would be a much different photo – packed to the gills with bikinis and speedos and the people who shouldn’t be wearing said bikinis and speedos. Yesterday it was a ghost town. Again, I digress.
I wanted to send this frame in, but I feared that it might have actually made the paper.
Still fun to make, even though it is a complete Mallams-wannabe.
