emergency mennonite

I swear it’s not the same girl.
I believe it was Melissa Lyttle on an aphotoaday post that accused me of carrying a Mennonite girl in my trunk whenever I needed to add one to a photo to make it work. This girl would ride around next to my bucket of red paint, to serve my photographic, compositional needs.
While that would probably land me in prison, I can’t say that I’m not entirely rejecting that idea. It would make my life easier sometimes when I get that last minute call for a weather feature.
Surprisingly, there is a large Amish Mennonite community here in Sarasota, which is smack dab in the center of the city. It’s a community we don’t cover enough, so whenever we (meaning the photographers) get an excuse to go make frames in there, we always jump at it. This frame was made at the popular Overholt fruit stand, which was closing for the day. They’re only open in-season (our tourist season runs from Thanksgiving to Easter), and have been for 30 years. I saw the umbrellas earlier in the day and went back in hopes of making a frame. The green dress was coincidental, but fun for me to revisit.
The image below was from a brush fire a couple years ago in east Sarasota.
