I’ve been shooting a lot of baseball and softball the last couple weeks as playoffs get underway, and as usual, there’s plenty of sitting in the dirt and dodging foul balls all the while working on my killer farmer’s tan. More often than not, when a shot like this becomes available, I’m usually caught with my camera on the batter – trying to break myself of that. I took a different approach and sat along the left field fence the entire game shooting from behind the players. Worked out in the end as the center fielder from Out-of-Door Academy laid out for a ball.
Of course, he missed the catch, but his team won the game rendering my photo useless in the end – sports still ran with it, reworking a headline to make it work.
