old school with a side of new
Every couple seasons I get pegged to do the All-Area high school athletes, only this year I got pegged with little warning. I had kept this idea of shooting with a digital through the viewfinder of an old, dirty Kodak Duoflex camera I had sitting on my shelf in the back of my head for such an occasion. I also added the extra challenge of not using a ball and keeping their faces as stoic as possible. I don’t think the athletes had any idea what these would end up looking like, but all of them were very willing to let me do what I needed to do and just nod.
I have another project in the works with the technique, and by then I think it will be played out and gone the way of the Lensbaby and Holga.
